Ever since I was small I have always enjoyed making things, but when I discovered pottery a few years ago I fell in love with clay and all the possibilities it brings.
I started on an Introduction to Pottery course with Dundee Ceramic Workshop back in 2019. Once I finished the introductory course I spent the rest of the year attending weekly classes where participants could make whatever they wanted. When lockdown arrived, like many others, I turned to my hobby to help me through the isolation of the pandemic. As the pandemic wore on, the deliveries of clay and glazes increased (much to my postman’s dismay), and eventually a kiln and pottery wheel also followed and things have continued to grow from there.
I enjoy using a combination of hand building and wheel throwing techniques to create functional, tactile pottery pieces. I enjoy exploring texture and surface design using stamps and carving tools to create unique designs. I then like to use colour and glazes to enhance the shapes and designs that the clay has created.
